David: The Shepherd Who Was Lifted By God

Bible Studies,Children Ministry,Youth Ministry

The story of David in the Bible is found in the books of 1 Samuel and 2 Samuel in the Old Testament. David was the youngest of eight sons of Jesse, a shepherd from the tribe of Judah. Despite his humble beginnings, God chose David to be the king of Israel. He was anointed by the prophet Samuel and ultimately succeeded King Saul.

David is known for his bravery and military successes, including defeating Goliath, a giant Philistine warrior. He also established Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and brought the Ark of the Covenant to the city.

David’s reign as king was not without its challenges, including conflicts with Saul and his own children. Despite these difficulties, he is remembered as a great leader and a “man after God’s own heart.”

David’s life story is also found in the Old Testament, in the books of 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Chronicles, and Psalms. David is also a central figure in Jewish, Christian, and Islamic tradition and is considered as one of the greatest ruler in the history of Israel.
