In a powerful and sobering welcome address during the 29th Annual General Council Meeting of the Apostles’ Continuation Church International (ACCI) yesterday, Apostle General, Chairman Clement Brakatu delivered a timely message to all Ministers, Area leaders, and stakeholders present. He urged the gathering, not to chase titles but to focus on faithfully fulfilling the work God has assigned to them.
According to the Chairman, the true mark of leadership in the Kingdom of God is not in titles but in faithful service. He emphasized that when one diligently serves in their calling, recognition will come in due time, regardless of their position or location.
Drawing inspiration from scripture, Chairman Brakatu highlighted the lives of Paul and Barnabas. While Paul was renowned among the apostles, Barnabas, though less prominent, was remembered for his impactful testimony, generosity, and unwavering faithfulness. “Barnabas didn’t accumulate many titles, but he left behind a mantle of testimonies”, the chairman noted.
He reminded the gathering that people ultimately remember one’s impact, not their titles, referencing Hebrews 9:27 — “It is appointed unto man once to die.” In essence, the legacy one leaves behind is built on service, not status.
Chairman Brakatu urged all to let their lives echo with the legacy of service and faith, stressing that humility is essential to access the higher calling of God. He passionately cautioned against despising any opportunity to serve, stating, “It may be the very foundation God will use to launch you into greatness.”
Chairman Brakatu shared his personal journey, recalling how he was faithfully serving in Canada, focused solely on the Lord’s work, when he was unexpectedly confirmed by the Executive Council to become the next Chairman of the church. It was not a position he pursued, but a divine appointment that located him through service.
In alignment with the Chairman’s message, internal observations within ACCI further reinforces this principle. A notable example is the current General Secretary of the church. He began his journey as a humble Presiding Elder in a local branch. Through unwavering commitment, humility, and a servant’s heart, he rose to his present leadership role. His story exemplifies that in ACCI, it is not self-promotion that leads to elevation, but faithful service
Reflecting further on Chairman Brakatu’s charge, I am reminded of the lives of Joseph and David, two biblical figures who were not initially recognized by titles, but by their consistent service. Joseph rose from being a prisoner to a prime minister; David from a shepherd to a king. Their elevations came through obedience, diligence, and a heart aligned with God, not through title chasing.
Chairman Brakatu’s message is a wake-up call to this generation, especially those serving within the church. In a world where many chase visibility, accolades, and positions, the call is to pursue faithfulness over fame. Let us not be driven by ambition, but by assignment. In ACCI, as in the Kingdom of God, service speaks louder than titles.
You don’t need to know a “big man” in the church to be noticed by God. And you should never serve just to be seen. Serve because it is your divine calling. Give your all to the gifts God has placed in you. In due season, favor will locate you, and God Himself will lift you.
Let us not chase titles, let us chase purpose because when your time comes, no one can stop what God has ordained.
As the Chairman declared: “People won’t remember your title. They’ll remember your impact.”
Those who have ears, let them hear
